Thomas Lynch, MA

Thomas Lynch is a landscape designer whose work is shaped by a lifelong passion for gardening, art, and design. Drawing inspiration from everyday life, the natural world, and visits to exceptional gardens around the globe, Thomas creates landscapes that are both refined and deeply rooted in place. His work reflects a respect for classical design principles, balanced with a thoughtful response to site, climate, and client lifestyle.
Thomas’s portfolio includes intimate residential gardens, as well as large-scale woodland and coastal landscapes. Each project is approached as a collaboration, resulting in spaces that feel natural, enduring, and carefully considered. His work has received international recognition, including a prestigious International Gold Award from the Association of Professional Landscape Designers for a Maine coastal landscape design project.
Classically trained in garden and landscape design, Thomas studied under renowned British designers Robin Templar Williams, FSGD, and Moira Farnham, MSGD. He earned his Diploma with Distinction, the highest honor awarded by the United Kingdom–based Garden Design School. Through this rigorous program, he developed a strong foundation in proportion, structure, and spatial planning, along with the skills required to create exceptional master plans and expressive, site-specific planting designs.
Complementing his formal design education, Thomas holds a certificate in Native Plant and Ecological Horticulture from Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. This training enhances his commitment to environmentally responsible design, with an emphasis on native plant communities, regional character, and sustainable landscape practices. He also holds undergraduate degrees with honors in Business Management and Marketing, as well as a graduate degree in Management, bringing a practical and organized approach to both design and project execution.
Thomas’s work has been featured in some of Maine’s most respected design publications. A York Beach project was highlighted in Maine Home & Design, and a Cape Neddick landscape appeared in a four-page spread in the Garden Issue of Decor Maine.
